Android Q's

Aloha everyone,

I currently have Boost Mobile and I am thinking of getting my first Android phone (Motorola i1).

The phone ships with Android 1.5, and I had a couple of Q's for the Android brainiacs...
1) I saw that newer phones ship with Android 2.2, can this phone be upgraded (nothing on the Motorola site)?
2) If I purchased the phone and apps, can you transfer the apps to a new Android phone if I upgraded in the future?

-Sorry but unlike the nexus one which was sold directly from google and unlocked.. all other phones depend on carriers/manufacturers for software updates.. so if boost mobile or motorola feel lazy.. they could just never update the software
-your purchased apps (from the android market) are linked to your gmail account... so just log in you gmail account in your new phone and head to the market to download your paid apps for no extra charge

There are some differences. 2.X has Google Navigation and such, so you can use your phone as a GPS. It also has support for more apps. There are also some other improvements.

However, after looking at the specs for the i1, it looks like you may never get 2.2. They look pretty similiar to my Eris, and we are in the dark as to if Verizon/HTC will update our phones to 2.2. The Eris started out on 1.5, and then we were upgraded to 2.1 in May. So, if your lucky, the Motorola i1 might get upgraded to 2.1. But for all we know, that might be the last upgrade it would get.
