Android random unknown notification sound noise

What the hell is going on? The notification sound randomly plays on my Google Pixel 2. It is soooooo annoying!

I resetted the phone twice from scratch. Doesn't help. The sound even plays during the Android installation welcome screen!

It is linked to the RING VOLUME. When volume is off, I don't hear the sound anymore.

I'll have to replace this damn phone!

It sounds as if your phone is rooted and you have a custom rom installed on it. Try going into your settings under notifications and check and see if there's anything unfamiliar in that location. But that's clearly an app or a program installed on the device that needs uninstalling.

I had a similar problem with my Pixel XL. The problem was that my phone would on occasion start chiming for unknown reasons. After some troubleshooting I realized it only happened when my phone was connected to an after market charger and it was fully charged. (Mine is a Qualcomm 2 amp) Everything works well with the Google charger. I'm not familiar with the charging system on the Pixel, possible it was a warning notification that the battery was over charging. It hope this helps others with the same problem.
