Android screen cast

I've been messing with this some, and if course it warns that it's not optimized for my device, but are there any tricks to improve performance? I accept that there is going to be a little lag, but I'm experiencing freezing on the TV, and having to just completely fail and shutdown the cast. Is there any way to control the resolution or anything?

Make sure that you're not on a crowded channel.

Yeah, I kinda figured. It's completely stop working now anyway. I believe because I'm on ART. Not a big deal.
I use inSSIDer to check WiFi activity.
