Android SD card

I got a 32GB SD card a week ago and It's already having problems. I'm able to copy large files to it but after the process is done, the folder that they're in gets renamed to "." and becomes empty. Remounting the card deletes the folder. I narrowed down the file size that gets deleted to be between 400 to 1200MB. I have Android 4.1.2

Are you sure it's a genuine 32Gb card, and not a smaller one hacked to look bigger? it might be a 512MB or 1GB card that's been made to look bigger. I've been caught with a 4GB card made to look like 32GB. The way to be sure is to copy a number of smaller (around 32MB each) files, and see how many it can store. If it starts to not store at 15 or 16 files, it's a 512MB card, if it starts to not store at around 30 files, it's a 1GB card. In any case, I'd want a refund as it's obviously defective.

Well I seem to have narrowed to problem down to the part where I can say that the SD card can't run files over 400MB and corrupts any files above that. I copied a movie and it always freezes at a specific point. Copying zip files larger than 400MB seemed to corrupt them and made them unreadable. I've googled for help and some answers said I should format my card to fat32 from generic hierarchical. I hope that makes sense to anybody. When I bought the SD card I got an adapter with it. How do I use this? Does it go into a desktop computer that is from 2006?

I've formatted fat32 on my Windows 7 laptop. What OS is on your computer?
