Hi all,

I'm a newbie - just bought a fairly cheap Chinese MID and Android Market doesn't work on it, and neither do Hebrew fonts. It's my first Android device and I am not a programmer. I've been trying to follow the advice that I can find on the web in various forums. The workaround is to do some fiddling with Android SDK. I've tried numerous things, but cannot get Android SDK to run on my PC. None of the suggestions I've tried from various forums work, either. Here are my specs:
  • PC: Windows XP SP3
  • Android SDK: have tried both 1.6 and 2.1 versions; have tried installing on both C:\Program Files and D:\. Have tried editing the paths in the android.bat file and various other suggestions for editing that file. Have also tried editing the find_java.bat file.
  • JDK: have tried latest SE version, now have latest EE version (GlassFishV3) installed on D:\ and Java 6u22 on C:\Program Files
  • Eclipse: Have tried latest Classic version (couldn't get connection to the Android ADT), now have Eclipse Java Helios SR1 installed. It won't open because it's looking for JVM 1.5 and says I have an earlier version installed. The idea is to work via Eclipse instead of via the Andriod SDK.
  • My Computer Environment Variables: Path is set up to find the tools listed above.
I'd be very grateful for some help - I am totally stuck!!:(
Thanks!
