Android SMB (CIFS) or NFS client questions

Hello,

I am brainstorming a rather unusual use for Android . I once used a CIFS client on an old rooted android phone and as I recall it mounted the CIFS share from my NAS on my android filesystem.

So now I want to take that a step further. I want to know if I then use the android devices as USB mass storage device will the CIFS mount be available while in USB mass storage mode? To clarify I need the SMB (CIFS) or NFS share to still be available to a host computer when the Android device is in USB mass storage mode.

My original goal was to use something like a rapberry Pi to emulate a mass storage device while actually employing an SMB or NFS share but it is not possible on the Pi, but then realized it MAY be possible on Android.

The purpose of this is to allow a dumb device like a digital TV tuner that can record to a memory stick to actually record to a network location. If android can mount a network share and maintain the mount while in the USB mass storage mode then I may have finally found a solution.

but presently have no spare or old (and probably needs to be rooted) devices to test with.

If anyone knows anything about this or can test I would very much appreciate you passing it along to me

Mark.
