Android Studio components not displaying in Design View

When a component is selected from Pallet it displays in the Component Tree but not in the Design Window.
Can anyone tell me how can one make them display. ?

I have looked at that posting suggestion and I have tried changing the Theme but it does not cure the problem in my case. Thank you
