Android Question

I am brand new to Arduino. Just found it online the other day.

Is it possible to connect the Arduino to a USB port of a Android tablet and use an App to
control the I/O?

I would also like to have a custom display to turn the I/O on/off.

I found that this is possible with bluetooth, but I am trying to stay away from bluetooth.

Hi and welcome to Android Forums,

from what I know you could possible use arduino with a tablet that Has a full size usb port like the windows surface table... unless you are rooted and running certain apps using the controller through a OTG cable will not work as of now but may be and added feature in future android release

hope this shed some light on your situation.

This was my original post. I forgot I had an account with Phandroid

It seems it would be better If I stuck with bluetooth instead. I would like to have a customized screen (app) with buttons to turn on certain outputs on the board. I seen the Annikeen Andee bluetooth shield, app and development software which looked really kool. The software for creating a certain layout on the app looked easier to use for a newbie than starting from scratch.

that sounds good. if you have anymore questions feel free to email me or another staff member or bring it to the masses
