Help Android Television Box, Model S806

Hi Everyone,

So yesterday I was given a Android Television Box - Model: S806 .. from my father (he got a new box)

When I turn this on it flashes up with S812 in a blue and yellow box on the screen and then stays on an OpenElec screen for ever.. doesn't go past this screen.

Could anyone give me some steps on how to fix this? Does it need to be unbricked/reflashed? If so, how.. what hardware/software would I need?

(This is my first post so apologies if I have posted in the wrong place on this forum but i've searched the internet high and low and this is my last resort really)

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks very much, this is definitely the firmware I needed.

However, this leads to one more problem though, I can't use a SD card as the CX-S806 doesn't have a SD slot, so I'm not sure how I can access the box to put this firmware on, I know there is a OTG port on the back of the box, could this be used somehow? If so, what cable would I need and software to put it onto the box.

I can also hook the box up to my modem if there is maybe another way to access these files,

As you can tell, I'm quite new to this so every bit of help is appreciated!

Reading one of the links in the article, you can use the port on the back to restore - http://www.cnx-software.com/2014/04/16/how-to-firmware-upgrade-amlogic-s802/

Not sure why it's calling it an OTG Port as if I'm understanding those instructions correctly, a normal Micro USB
Cable looks to suffice.

If you need an OTG cable though, they're not expensive. You can get them on Amazon for less than a quid and Tesco or Maplin do them pretty cheaply too. Here's the sort of thing you're looking for though: https://www.amazon.co.uk/female-Mic...UTF8&qid=1466454119&sr=8-2&keywords=otg+cable

I'm not sure if you could copy the files to a USB stick and use an OTG cable with the stick to install that way or if it has to be an SD Card. I'll need to do a bit of reading!

Yeah that's what I thought.. it's very strange and that was what was most confusing. The OTG port, to me, just looks like a USB port (not micro). So I'm guessing I need a USB to USB cable in order to use this USB Burning Tool to flash the device. (Now that I've finally got the firmware and tool I need). I did try with the USB Stick with the firmware on into the OTG Port and held in the Reset button on the back of the box, however, this didn't work. Will give it a try once I get a cable and let you know if this works. Fingers Crossed mate, thanks for the help.

No worries, let me know how you get on. I'll see if I can dig anything up in the interim.

USB A to A cables are also relatively cheap so you shouldn't be out of pocket.
