Android TV connectivity

[Android Question]

I've just bought an Android v9 (mk 908) TV box from amazon. So far (a few days old) it's great for: BBC iPlayer; Skype; streaming films; internet radio. What I'd like it to do, in addition, is connect to either my pc, or iPhone or Android tablet wirelessly, to stream music and photos. Can this be done? And if so, without getting into lots of jargon, do I install an App on both sending and receiving device?

I'm not sure how much technical jargon you'll be able to avoid while still accomplishing your goal. As far as I know, this type of technology is not yet in a sufficiently mature stage to handle it that way.

That said, I can think of one way that might work for you. You might be able to install Plex Media Server on your computer and the Plex app on the Android device. I'm using a Roku TV box (which does not run Android) with Plex Media Server on my PC and it does the job nicely.
