Android TV for newb!

ChiChaiKL

Lurker
Hi Hi! This is ChiChaiKL! I'm thinking of possibly getting an Android TV box and uhm I want to know what exactly one should look for. I have a limited budget and I was checking around. Would this one, CX-921 Rockchip Quad Core Android 4.2.2 OS RK3188 Cortex A9 1.6 GHz Mini TV BOX 2G/8G AV Output Built-in MIC Black, be good for an Android TV newb?

It also looks small enough that my cats might not be able to push it off from the TV platform heheh.

It says here that these are highlights on the specs:

Rockchip RK3188 Quad Core ARM Cortex A9 1.6 GHz
4 x mali 400 GPU
Android 4.2.2 OS
2G DDR3 + 8G Nand flash
Support 802.11 b/g/n, Built-in Realtek 8188 WiFi Module
Support AV Output, Built-in MIC

what should be I looking for, when I want good specs?

I might just use it for browsing and watching youtube videos. I don't think I can play in it, can I? Maybe I can but won't it be difficult on a screen?

Thank you for any suggestions!

I'm not sure about the one you listed, but I do have the Orealo Android 4.0 Dual-Core TV Box with Hard-disk Support
Android 4.0 Dual-Core TV Box with Hard-disk Support
You can get it on Amazon as well...
Amazon.com: Android / XBMC Smart TV Media Player with SATA Harddisk support by Orealo Dual Core Processor Quad core GPU 1GB RAM WIFI and Ethernet Support: Electronics

but I ordered it through their official site so I can get support - just in case.

I'll post a review about it today on this forum but I think it's the best tv box I've bought thus far. I've owned a lot of tv boxes over the years- (Apple, Western Digital, and Roku) and I think this one beats them by a mile.

Anyways ya, I'll post a more detailed review about it once I get some time. :)

Wow, the specs and ease of use look like something I would want. I actually have a spare netbook hard disk I can even use with it. My worry though is that if you have a hard disk on, it would be sticking up, and I'm worried about my cats kicking it or something. Have you tried a different operating system with it?

I have not tried a different OS with it. I think it's good as is. It's a full Android os on your tv screen. hehe. Here is my review if you haven't seen it yet:
