Android usable without root/custom ROMs?

Be honest, is your Android phone usable without needed root access and/or a custom ROM? From following the Android "world" for the past couple of months, I get the impression that many of the devices are nearly crippled until you root them and/or install a custom ROM.

That's not true at all. Yes, the phones are much faster with a custom ROM on them, but are in no way unusable without them. I think that we have all been spoiled and now that we have had these rooted ROMS for so long, we can't see it any other way. Android is a great platform and will continue to grow. Remember, ignorance is bliss. If you've never had a custom ROM, I'm sure you'll be more than happy with stock Android.
