Android volume stepping issue, still an issue?

Hi, I bought a Moto G5s phone last year that had Android 7.1.1 installed, and for a good period of time it was fine, I particularly bought this model for it's ability to install an extra 256 Gig MiniSD card. I've got a large flac library. A few months ago, I bought a Bose Soundtouch 30 and Bluetoothing and all that work fine.

However one thing that annoys the hell out of me (thought this might have changed with Android version 8) is the 16 step volume control, it's just extremely annoying. Just wondering when this will be looked into, it would be nice if it was bumped up to 64 or 128 steps because the volume I want is between around step 6 and 7. 6 is too soft, and 7 is just very loud.

Sounds like it could be limitation or "feature" of that particular phone. Quite frankly I've never seen or heard of any 16 step volume on any Android device.

"all over the net"? Nope, not seen or heard of it myself. Is it a problem specific to Moto G5? Any Android device I've had, I can adjust the volume to whatever I like. I know someone who has a Moto G5, probably I'll enquire with her about it tomorrow.

There's plenty of volume control apps in the play store that may work for you.
I use one called Volume Control which has sliders for your media output

Okay, thankx for the pointers, may look into this being an issue with foobar, which is the music ap I use.

I don't have a google account, that's okay, from apkmirror (apparently operated by androidpolice.com) this precise volume looks interesting, I'll give that a go.

Funny I searched the other day, and it never showed up. :(

Mikedt; thanx, I'd be interested to know how they got around the problem on their Moto, meanwhile I'll report back soon on how successful precise volume has or has not been. :)

As far as this issue being over the net,

Okay, somewhat of a delay in getting back to this thread, but wanted to really give this app a try before responding. Precise Volume Control seems to be trial-ware, but as far as I've used it, it seems to get the job done. Out of the box, it gives 100 volume steps, but the other eight or nine functions require paying for the pro version.

Though not quite what I wanted (wanted something to override android's limitations). It seems to be a completely seperate volume control to android, however it gives you 100 steps, 200 in the paid version. I've only used it on my headphones and the phones bottom shooter speaker, and it seems to be okay so far, without any sudden volume drops and spikes. I'm wanting to used this abit longer though, before bluetoothing it to my Bose Soundtouch 30. At this stage I'm still a little hesitant as the last thing I want is listening to my soundtouch, and suddenly the volume shoots up to full, not very good as I live in an apartment complex, not nice for the neighbours. Will report back again in a month or so for final thoughts.

Though my opinion only, I still think this is an android issue, and would have been nice to have this in the operating system out of the box without having to load up seperate apps. I've had this issue with three phones across android 7 and 8.
