Android2cloud vs. Phone 2 Chrome (?)

I love Chrome to Phone and in another thead I was recommended Android2cloud (A2C).

While searching for A2C I found an app call Phone2Chrome (P2C). Looking at both apps, they do the same thing, that is send the site from you phone to your chrome browser on the computer.

From what I gathered the difference is where the data is saved during the 'in between' stages.

A2C uses a cloud base server while P2C uses your dropbox account.

I was wondering if anyone who used both, which one do you recommend?

Hi Roze,

I wrote android2cloud (which has since been incorporated into the 2cloud Project), so I'm far from an unbiased commenter. So rather than telling you which is better, I'll just explain what 2cloud does and how it works, and if that suits your needs, great. If not, then I wish you the best with whatever solution you choose. :)

2cloud is built to mirror the web itself. We worked hard to make it decentralised and open, and open source all our code. This has benefits and drawbacks: the benefit is that you have full control, and can use whatever server, extension, or Android app you like. Use the ones we provide, or provide your own, or a community provided one. They all work together, so switch one or all of them out to suit your preferences. We also have the concept of "devices", which lets you specify the browser you're sending links to.

The drawback of this strategy is that it takes a touch more configuration. We tried to make it simple for you to use the most common settings, but sometimes people get confused. We run help forums at Welcome - The 2cloud Project Support to try and ease the pain, but I won't lie to you and tell you it's stupid-simple setup.

We use Google's Channel API to run our server, so the links get sent to your browser as soon as they hit the server. If your browser isn't open, it'll get the links it missed when it opens next.

We do have some bugs right now. I'll be the first to admit it. I'm working hard to fix them, but in the meantime, things are a little bumpy sometimes. If you want things to Just Work, you may be out of luck with this project-- the users that the bug happens to are random, and it's random when it occurs, which is why I'm having such a hard time tracking it down. You can look through our help forums to see the issues we have, and decide for yourself whether the experience is livable or not.

We're working on making the project much, much better and more flexible, but I won't try to lure you with promises of future glory. That's where our extension stands today, and if it helps you, I'm thrilled. If it doesn't, then I hope you use the software that best fits your needs. We just want to offer people the choice, so we keep on with our little project.

Just want to thank Paddy for his hard work on this app. When I first installed it I had an issue so posted on the help forum, in a short time I was up and running and loving this app. It really does come in handy!
