Annoying issue with Skype on Android

I love being able to make voice and video calls using my Android phone and tab. However, one issue is really bugging me and I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to overcome it.

When making a video call, I cannot access the text chat window to type messages (e.g. send a website link) to the person that i'm having a video call with.

I have to back out of the video window and locate the person in the contact list and then select 'Send an IM'. After typing the message out, I have to locate the video window from the status bar.

It's a real pain if you do a lot of typing on a video call. On the PC version this isn't a problem as you can simply have the chat window at the bottom of the video stream.

Does anyone know of a way to have the chat window present on the same window as the video on Skype for Android?

i know that you can easily switch to the IM screen while video chatting with someone via GTalk. Not sure if thats an option for you.

Unfortunately not! But thanks for the suggestion anyway. I don't know anyone that uses Gtalk in my social circle but everyone I know uses Skype! I travel a lot and I use Skype to keep in touch with friends and family so it's a really important app for me.

Often I just power up my work laptop to avoid this issue but would dearly love to use my tab more.
