Help Anonymous Sender Blank MMS

Hey guys,

I tried searching for this and could not find anything in the forums. I have been receiving blank MMS slideshows from "Anonymous Sender" since I have gotten this phone. I think I have figured out that the problem lies when somebody initially sends a group MMS and then others try to respond, but I am not entirely sure on this. Anybody have any idea what the heck is going on?

it's most likely that, as i've come across the same thing.

most of my family is on iPhone, and when a group chat starts, a blank MMS is sent along with an individual SMS.
 
@karbosshack, just curious have you visited any questionable websites on your phone? because after I tried streaming videos from Project Free TV is when I started seeing these Messages, although I've only been getting them after I switched from my Amaze 4G (which never got them) to my Samsung GS3.
 
I'm having the same problem! I've searched online a lot but can't find anything useful. This is for stock messaging app btw.

What happens when I get an MMS is I get a brief notification that says message from "Paul". Within one second that is replaced by "hidden sender" on the top notification bar. I open messaging and there is now a thread entitled "anonymous" where all my mms are going (so far 3 messages from 2 different people are in this thread). I click "download" but it goes to play something that looks like a video. There is a bar at the bottom that plays to 5 seconds, but the screen is just black and says "message not found". These are all pictures btw, they are NOT videos, I verified with senders.

Packet Data is on
Wifi toggle doesn't make a difference
Have turned the phone off for 10 minutes, also restarted twice
Force closed messaging app

I AM able to send picture messages to myself, and have received in the past, like when I first got the phone a month ago. Idk if it matters, but one of the senders is on an iphone, the other not sure.
Also, these aren't group texts coming in.

I believe it could be malicious or spywear because this didn't start happening until I tried streaming from a website with known spywear and trojans, thought it might not effect a Android device, well it never did on my HTC device.

So again, have any of you been to websites with known malicious Ad's ???

Stock Rom, no 3rd party apps, and stock Samsung Messaging app.

Called My Carrier and this is their advice.
Try to Fwd the message to 7726 (T-mobile's trouble shooting number)
The message is unsendable.

Text: STOP
I hit the send button till I am blue in the face (nothing happens at all)

Final advice was for me to Change my Number. (not worth it)

I'll be fine with getting them.
 
This happens to me too. I'm on T-Mobile. It happens sometimes when I receive a mms or a group text from an iPhone.

I don't ever get the actual message that was sent to me. I just get this empty mms from an anonymous sender

You mean porn sites? Kidding. I do download apps but most of them have 1,000,000+ downloads and I always read reviews to steer clear of those things. I also have avast! installed and running. Phone is not rooted, and I don't really visit any websites aside from shopping/webcrimes trying to get my ex arrested/google searches for basketball wives LA. Again, kidding (mostly). But seriously, the majority of the sites I visit are innocuous. I'm on at&t. Also, these aren't group chats or messages. They are plain mms messages sent from 3 people that end up in the same anonymous thread. One is on an Iphone the other two aren't. I have no idea what parts of this info are relevant so just putting it all out there.Probably going to take my phone to Best Buy tonight or tmrw and see if they can help. I'll post a fix if I get one.
 
Well, my mms randomly started working a few days ago, but I still wasn't able to retrieve the erroneous ones from before. So I went to Best Buy where they tried to fix it in vain and eventually told me it was a network issue and sent me to the ATT store, also futile.

I did notice that these issues began following Sandy and resolved about 2 days ago. My guess is that somehow impaired the network, despite the fact that I had full 4g and no problems with other data apps.

PS thanks PumpDrivrx! I'm sure that will fix it for others. Though in my settings window there isn't a spam option. Notification, CB, Push are the last 3 headings.
