Another 'Album art in Gallery' post

Hello,

Am I just crazy or would it be a logical thing to have an option to point the gallery at a specific directory or directories of the users choice?

I've read a million posts on .nomedia fixes, delete pictures, rename files, download a new app etc but none of this keeps my album art out of the stock Xperia Gallery as well as keeping all the apps happy. I like how the stock gallery works and considering how much I paid for this phone, I'd really like to keep using it.

No matter what I do all my movies and album art appear in my Gallery.

.nomedia - stops the mp3s etc from being scanned and they don't show up in Movies or Walkman.
new app - I want to use the stock app
albumart.jpg - I don't want to go through my entire collection and change all this, plus I have albums where I've scanned every page of the booklet so I have multiple files.

It would seem this is a fairly simple thing that has never really been addressed and tons of people are frustrated with it. Apart from the fixes I've mentioned here, does anyone have a way to fix it? I'll bake you a giant thank you cake with balloons and everything if you can help me!!

I think I might have stumbled across the solution to the album cover issue.

I deleted everything and used 'Media Go' to import all my albums. I'm yet to see an album cover in my Gallery! :) Woop!

Now to see if it works for the video files...

Indeed that is the way to do it. This way the file is attached to the track itself as meta data and isn't just sitting in a folder a jpeg for the Album to scan. The same thing should work fine with the video data.

Looks like the videos are going to be in the Album view no matter how I spin it.

Does my head in but I think I'll just have to live with it for now!

The only way for them not to show here would be to have them in a format not natively compatible with the phone. You would then only be able to view them through an app such as MX Player and they would not show in the Album.
