Another Brilliant Move By AT&T

I've been a long time customer of both AT&T and Verizon, lately the gap is widening in favor of AT&T by a HUGE Margin.

There are several times when AT&T has really come through and provided me with world class service and great pricing.

I get upgrades each year and sometimes more than one at super discount prices.

I could not be happier.

Here's the latest for Everyone!

AT&T to allow third-party apps | Android Atlas - CNET Reviews

I suppose I can toss a thumbs up to AT&T for pulling their head out of their asses on this one.

Wonder if this is only for new phones being sold from this point forward or will there be an update to enable this on all of their android phones like the inspire and atrix?

There may be, if I get word I will post accordingly. One of my sources is under an NDA, so it's hit and miss :)

I have heard that there are three AT&T 2.2 devices that will be receiving a transparent update beginning next week to allow third party applcations like the Amazon App store. They are the Captivate, Inspire and Aria. Problem is there may be no way on the Captivate to tell the update was pushed without trying to download something. The other two devices, both HTC's;will have the "Allow Unknown Sources" checkbox. The Atrix is opening up soon. All new devices released after this Sunday supposedly will have the option at launch

I really want the swype beta. I read the announcement yesterday on phandroid. It looks like it started for the inspire, aria, and captivate. I didn't get it yet though. Anyone receive the update?

Bout time but still not enough to make me revert back from root.

If they come up with a netflix solution I might just switch back.

I expect an email anytime now, I've been on the beta team since day one.

ATT has been nothing but great to me, pricing isn't bad... they allowed me to upgrade early... and now they are allowing 3rd party apps.

Interesting to actually find people who like At&t, I usually read people rag about their poor customer service and what not.

I upgrade every 6 months (x5 lines) have unltd data on 3, no service problems, and get crazy discounts. I have nothing to complain about except that they are now going to be selling a red inspire which i want and they should of offered since release.

I have been displeased only ONCE with AT&T service: one particular store had a very lazy and unscrupulous crew, led by a manger who flat out LIED about my phone issue. I left that store and went home, called AT&T directly and had my problem solved in less than 30 minutes. The store in question----went out of business within 6 months of that incident. Poor customer service = no customers. AT&T understands the concept in my opinion.
