Another Question from the Newbie (old guy!)

Concerning T-Mobile's Monthly 4G PrePaid...

Is that available in T-Mobile (or best buy or walmart) retail outlets or Online only?

would pricing vary depending on where you go?

I've been a T-Mobile prepaid customer for many years but looking to finally upgrade to a smartphone while still staying prepaid and I trust T-Mobile as they have treated me well in the retail outlets and I've always had good coverage and service. (I'm in the Detroit suburbs)

What is the best way to start the Monthly 4G service with T-Mobile?

Thanks in advance!

The $30 plan is only available online, it is not supposed to be available in retail stores. It is also only available for "new customers" so you will need to get a new SIM card. The cheapest way is to order a SIM card activation kit from online (costs 99 cents from T-Mobile's website), though you can also get it from a local store (they'll likely charge about $7).

Once you have the card, go online and register the SIM and select the $30 plan (and make sure you get the 100 min unlimited data plan, as they have another $30 plan). Others have said they have been able to move their old T-Mobile number to the new phone, you can do this by calling T-Mobile after you've set up your new plan.
