Another way to lose Unlimited Data????

With the loophole that allows you to upgrade a feature phone to a smartphone, then transfer the new phone to the line you actually want it on closing on the 24th, I thought I'd give it one last go. I've done this several times and it's worked like a charm.

I called a VZW store and played dumb. I asked if upgrading my wife's feature phone to a smartphone and adding a data plan to that line would affect the UDP on my other line. As I already knew, the answer was "Of course not." Then I asked the VZW rep what would happen if I moved the new smartphone to my line if my wife decided she liked her original phone better. I was told that VZW will automatically switch you from a UDP to a 2GB data plan if you swap a subsidized phone to a line with UDP.

I thought maybe the rep was misinformed so I called several different stores in my area. All had the same story. I asked one of the reps when this policy took effect and she said they've been doing it for about a month. Has anyone heard of this, or worse, had it happen to them? One rep told me that I could try and maybe I'd get lucky, but I'm not really willing to gamble with my UDP.

VZW, you can have my UDP when you pry it out of my cold dead hands.

You always have 30 days to return your phone and revert your plan to what it originally was.

Do we know that they still will revert you to the UDP? I thought the 30 day deal was for the hardware. Haven't some people reported being forced off with a return? (I don't know, I'm just asking.)
