ANTIVIRUS TROUBLESHOOTING: GETTING INTO THE SYSTEM FOLDERS

Hello all,

I recently installed AVL For Android on my Galaxy S7. Running its first scan shows I have a Trojan located in /system/lib/. AVL won't remove the source though, it keeps coming up with a failed attempt. Because of this I figured I would do it manually. I'm having trouble accessing this directory through either the phone itself or my computer. I've ran through the process on WikiHow of setting up USB Debugging to allow file transfer to my computer but I still can't access what I need. Does anyone know how to access the /system/ files?
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

With AVL being a "free" thing from China, I would suggest that it's wrong, and your unrooted S7 doesn't have any malware or a "trojan" in system. I recommend that you uninstall the lying AVL forthwith, in case it's spying on you.

Installing any kind of anti-virus/anti-malware app is typically going to allow you very limited access to anything related to the operating system as you're installing an app that only gets full access to the user's data partition. Anything relative to the operating system itself will be residing in protected, root-only accessible partitions. That's a contributing factor as to why most Android AV/anti-malware apps are part effective/part snake oil, when there's a particularly nasty exploit involved that's been able to install itself into the Android operating system itself, anything you install as the user can only fix user-access only data.
If you do indeed have a system-related exploit, your options are to root your phone and manually remove the infected files, which can be an involved project depending on the particular exploit, or just re-flash the appropriate Samsung stock ROM. (Flashing a ROM is basically similar to reloading the operating system on a computer, in this case you can flash a stock ROM without the need to root it, rooting is only necessary if you're using a third-party, custom ROM.) Keep in mind that it's necessary to obtain the exact ROM for your model, ROMs are not interchangeable. What's the exact model I.D. for your phone and which carrier are you using?

Did not know that. What would you recommend as a good AV?
Either way though, I uninstalled it, then installed BitDefender and ran a scan. The new AV says the phone is fine. So I guess either way the issue is resolved. Thanks!
