Any app on 'lock screen'

Quite often I use navigation on my tablet while walking.
Even more often I accidently touch the screen, which cause the nav app to do something I don't want.

I'm looking for an utility that looks the screen but keeps the nav app visible and functional without accepting any input from the touchscreen.

What phone and what version of Android are you using? Is the phone root-ed? What navigation app are you using?

Samsung TabPro 8" with a rooted Android 4.4.2
Navigation:
- TomTom Go Mobile
- Sygic

Both the latest versions

I am not root-ed. Perhaps someone who is root-ed will step in here. I assume this could be done in Tasker if the device is root-ed.

Tasker. Set lockscreen to none if navigation app is running. Just turn off the screen everytime you're not looking at it. When you turn it on, it will open to the running nav app.

Un-root-ed I have a profile with the proximity sensor. When it is triggered it does a System Lock. The screen is of course off until you hit a button.
