Any AT&T Employees?

I was all excited to get the Note 3 on the "Next" program. They renewed my contract last September (which is a mess in itself) so I'm not eligible for an upgrade and I just found out that they won't let you join the "Next" program without being eligible for an upgrade.

Are there any loopholes? Can they change that if you get the right person on the phone? Maybe the store?

The "Next" program is perfect for me because of my business and lifestyle. This allows me to have the newest technology every year.

I don't work for AT&T, but from what I can see, the problem is that they will want you to make a year of Next payments before you would be eligible for an upgrade, meaning you would make a year of payments for nothing as you should already be eligible for an upgrade next September.

I'm guessing that is the reason why they are saying it needs to be done at the same time you upgrade, as most people would pay for a year and typically get an upgrade no more than a few months early.

If you really want to join Next now, my thought is that you need to use the early buyout of your contract -- which should make you eligible for a new contract, and with the new contract the option of getting Next.
 
what the store employee told me when i went to upgrade, if you're more than a year into your current contract, they can do Next, but not sooner.
