Any bikers out there?

I really want to get a headset for handsfree talking but I can't find any that have both ears and a microphone, has anyone got any experience with this?

I'd like one that works with my Android phone and like I mentioned before, one with both ears.

My helmet fits really snug, I can't even wear sunglasses under it. I don't know that I could squeeze earbuds in there without driving them into my brain.
Did your phone come with a corded stereo earbud/mic? My GS2 did, that might be an option? You could probably stuff the mic up in there.

Look up "Chatterbox" they make a walkie talkie thing for person-person communication, I'm sure they make something for cellular use.

On one of my crash helmets (Scorpion EXO-900) I have a Cardo Scala Rider G4 intercom unit. It's stereo, has a mic and connects to mobile phones via bluetooth. I have yet to pair it up to my Xperia Neo V, but it worked well with my Satio. You can get the Scala G4 in either a full-face helmet version (with the mike on a little wire that you then stick to the inside of the chinbar) or in an open-face/modular helmet version (with the mike on a solid flexible arm - for want of a better description). The G4 also has a built-in FM radio and when it's paired with another G4 unit it has a range of up to one mile.

One of my lids also uses the G4 intercom. The full face lid with integrated blue tooth head set is the best option. I've stopped using any head sets though. (One of my ex's kept singing when she was on the back - this made me realize that communication on a bike is something I could do with out. Haha)

Out of interest, what do you ride? I had a Z1100 that was stolen not so long ago. I'm thinking about the Dragstar 1100 as my next bike.

I have a Caberg Flip and it has a bit of play and I also have some over the ear discrete earphones that sit inside my ear instead of bulging out.

I got the HTC Desire HD so it came with these horrible headphones with a play/pause block that I guess has a microphone.

I'll check chatterbox out :)

I say the Scala but the price put me off, I might have to save up for it - looking at touring Spain later next year.

Also I drive a Honda CB600F (Hornet) :)

No real thoughts on ear buds. I dont listen to music or anything:

But my ride is a '98 Honda Valkyrie Tourer

I have a GL 1500 Goldwing Trike. It has the old cassette player. I purchased a cassette from Wally World that plugs into the player and the end of it goes into my phone ear plug. It comes out of either my speakers or my helmet headphones depending on what I set it on.

AFter rereading your post your talking about the phone part. I haven't tried talking and using the phone part. So this probably doesn't help. I don't even like talking when not riding much less while riding.

Hope you find what your looking for.

Sold my r1100rs a few years ago. Loved that bike but illness slowed me down. Finally recovering (radiation therapy) and missed the bike. Just bought a new versys 650 and I think it will be great for me. Super bike! Been riding since 1965 and have had just about every brand (not every model). I use a full face helmet with ear plugs. I always concentrate on the road and don't have time to listen or talk to anyone while riding. I have a Samsung Ultra and use a BT quite abit...but not on the rode. Happy Trails!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Using a scala rider for years now. Works great with Bluetooth or hard plugged in. Its also great on phone calls and bike to bike communication.

I've got the g2 and a friend has the q4. Not the cheapest but works well with my modulars and regular full face. Riding a Victory Cross Country

Well, when a few bikers get together it's normal for conversation to start focusing on "what's your ride?" and the like. Give it a bit and we'll start discussing engine mods, corner speed, tyre pressures, and after that we'll get to the tall stories! :D

I just rigged one in my helmet from a good set of headphones and a female 1/8 jack from radio shack. Then I just plug in

One of my modular helmets is a Nolan N-103. I've got the Nolan Bluetooth components installed into it. Pricey but works quite well!

I'd like to do something similar with my Scorpion half helmet but I'll likely not spend the money! I usually only wear the Scorpion helmet during the summer and it's nice to be able to listen to the rumble of the motor.

Sorry for hijacking here, but this is right up my alley, and one of the reasons I joined this site was for help in finishing my apps.

To all the bikers out there.... I am in the final stages of my new App. It is called Twisted Throttles. It is an awesome app that includes a schedule of biker events across the country, as well as updated helmet laws, maps, etc.. Everything a biker would want to know. Should be available within the next few days. In the meantime, check out the website and show some biker love..... www.TwistedThrottles.com

Thanks
Rob
