Folks, I'm a G1 user in China. I was thinking maybe we should start a thread about the specific issues that come up as an android user in China.
To start:
- Unlocked G1's and some other android phones are around the cellphone market, though a lot of dealers haven't heard of them
- They won't work on China Mobile's 3G system, but they will on China Unicom. China Mobile has made their own modified system which is coming out on a bunch of Motorola phones soon.
- No paid app access in China
So, what else is there? What are the good Chinese apps? I'm waiting for a good dictionary. Nothing I've seen holds a candle to pleco on palm.
Anyway, there's plenty else to talk about, such as how to hop over the Great Firewall, connectivity issues, localization, etc. Jump in!
