Any engineers/engineering students?

Hello good people at AF. Have been on here for awhile, just wondering if there are any engineers or engineering students on here?
I myself am going to be a junior this fall and I am studying mechanical engineering.
I kind of figured there would be a few others that like to tinker with phones and tech like I do.
Post back if you want to share some insight on what life after college is like, I have some questions that maybe someone could help me with.
Cheers.

What kind of questions did you have exactly?

Basically how much gpa and class rank actually matter when you get out and are looking for a job. Obviously you would like them to be as high as possible, at the same time a high gpa doesn't mean you have all the skills needed for the job. I have been trying to get up to a 3.0 gpa but keep having terrible luck and am stuck around a 2.76 I have been to a few career and internship fairs and some places won't even look at you if you don't have a 3.0. I don't want all this money to go to waste after school if I can't get a job.
Also any suggestions on how to have a successful interview would be helpful.
Thanks.

Respectfully, what's your other option?

I work part time at a fast food place currently. So I will be doing that until I can get out of school. I would like to get myself a good paying job that I enjoy doing. Which I believe Mechanical Engineering is that job. Realistically school is my only option, and ME is a broad field so there should be plenty of opportunities out there for me.

Life after college is typically hectic... finding a job, getting acclimated to a regular work schedule, and to have a life outside of work.

hmm...you're so old Marty...I didn't even exist when you were done school

@OP: I find that most employers look for very well rounded individuals that are graduating from school. Is there a ME society that you are part of? It will look good on your Resume if you are on the committee. Being the President/VP/Secretary of a committee shows that you are a leader and this is something most employers look at. Any ME challenges or competition that you can participate in? You should be looking at ways to make yourself stand out from the crowd. This is especially true if you're average is not as high. What's a 2.76 vs 3.0 GPA as a percentage out of 100%? If you have a class you did exceptionally well in your first or second year, look to see if you can be a Teaching Assistance.
