Any interest in photograph apps?

I'm working on putting together a collection of favorites from my photography to put in an app,
for viewing and/or wallpaper (not live wallpaper, just plain wallpaper). A few of these won
honorable mentions at a Hurlburt Field (USAF Special Operations) photography contest, and
one of them won 2nd place in scenic/nature. There's another one that I've sold several of for
$75 each (at 16x20). A major sub-category (will likely be its own app) is a set of 51 favorites
from my fireworks photography. Other sub-categories that will likely be one combined app
are lightning/weather photography (several lightning shots, a few of a waterspout when I was
living on the island here, etc.), scenic/nature (Smokey Mountains, photos from here on the
Florida Gulf Coast, Texas Hill Country, etc.), and some true stereo (3D) photography.

If I do these, I'll be selling them (I'm a cancer survivor currently existing---not living---on a
monthly Social Security Deposit, and would very much like to get out from under that and
be able to support myself, or, at the very least, earn a little extra per month---on my budget,
even $50/month would be a big improvement). I'm debating on $1 or $2, and may very well
settle for $1.50. :-) I'll also be mentioning that most of the photos can be purchased in
poster sizes ranging from 8x10 to 20x24 (larger sizes not a good idea until I get a much
higher resolution digital, e.g., a Nikon SLR).

Can anyone tell me whether such an app would be of interest in the market? Or am I wasting
my time (and causing severe pain in my eyes---side effect from cancer tumors that moved to
my brain, and the surgeries to remove them)?

Btw, when I mention stereo photography, I am referring specifically to L/R image pairs, included
both in anaglyph format (you need red/cyan glasses) and in parallel viewing format.

Suggestions? Comments? Good/bad idea?

Thanks.....

Honestly?

Probably not.

The young and technically minded are most probably going to a) get cartooney/xbox type themes, rather than artisitically brilliant photos b) will get them for free from the web.

The type of person who will appreciate your art are most likely the type of person who won't know how to buy an app for their phone.

Sorry that I cannot give more positive feedback about this. I've been thinking about this for a while and cannot really think of a phone-based way of selling your work.

Well, at the very least, that certainly adds some realism to the idea, and officially decides the cost
($1 it is, then), IF I decide to try anyways (which I probably will---again, even a small boost will help
a lot). And it's not my only idea, so it doesn't knock me out of the picture, either. But then, right now,
I'm still getting further along in the O'Reilly book, so I've got plenty of time to debate it with myself.
Besides, I've already gotten this far on it...... :-) On the other hand, it certainly lowers the priority
of that particular idea by quite a bit.....

One of my apps is still photography related---teaching and viewing stereo imagery on the 'Droid.
Another is a unique type of clock that I made back in 6th grade (and still use), and yet another
is aimed primarily at Unix users (I'll be writing it for my own use, so I might as well put it up for
$1, too). :-) Yet another that *MIGHT* happen will be a tie-in to my Tcl/Tk program, JStrack
(a freeware hurricane tracking program), or, perhaps, just something related. I haven't worked
that part out yet. Re-writing JStrack in Java is out of the question, though.

If anyone is interested, JStrack is at JStrack (Tcl/Tk-based Hurricane Tracking Program) . Again, it's freeware. I DO
ask, however, that if anyone REALLY feels the need to send money, that they send it to the
Red Cross/Red Crescent (depending on what country they're in) or another disaster relief
agency. For JStrack, that will NEVER change.

Just FYI ... I just made the final decision on how to do this. My first 3 apps will be brewing (brewing beer, that is)
related., either $1 or $2 each. I WILL do the photography collection app, but it will be FREE. I'll point out in
the screen users get when they run it the first time, and in the "About" screen, that copies are available in
poster size, and to contact me for details (or, more likely, I'll just include a price list and contact info). If anything is going to work, I think that's the most likely scenario. If it works out, great. If not, oh well. :-)

Does this sound more reasonable?

Yeah, that was the best possibility that I could come up with too. Give it a try, but don't expect much.

Photography is very hard to monetize, unless you happen to be a young lady with low morals and an exciting underwear drawer.

Good luck with the other apps, I hope they work out for you.
