any long term screen scratch resistance reviews?

we're thinking of replacing my wifes kindle fire with a real tablet and the Nexus7 is an obvious choice... (yes I could root the kindle but thats another subject)

the one thing that's been very impressive has been the scratch resistance of the kinde fire screen uses gorilla glass which doesn't have a single scratch on it despite my wifes and kids trying

how does the N7 compare?... for those that have one and haven't used a screen protector how have your screens held up?

thanks

i have a sensation ( no screen protector ) which i have had about a year and there are only a couple of very light and small scratches, and it gets tossed araound alot.

i had another sensation just before that which i dropped a jam jar on to the face and that did a nice heavey scuff.

but i think as long as your treating them right the gorrilla glass stands up quite well.

ive just got a pouch for the nexus so they should reduce day to day marks when not in use, i wont be buying a screen protector for it.

just a warning though i have "heard" sand can do some damage if like rubbing against the screen in your pocket say.
