Any one like the ICS upgrade

I see all the problems with the ICS upgrade . I haven't got the ota yet and was wondering if anybody has enjoyed the upgrade.

Considering the giant leap in version numbers, I'm underwhelmed by the changes that I've noticed so far. Doing the actual upgrade was the best part, and even that was annoyingly easy.

No. I did the OTA "upgrade" last weekend and aside from a couple of minor improvements to the email GUI, I have found nothing to like about ice cream sandwich and plenty to dislike.

This morning I just tried adding audio files to the phone for the first time since the update and realized that it won't let me write new files to the device. I can delete though. I commented in the other ICS thread about several other issues. Seems like everyday I find another.

And while it's not really important, visually ICS seems like a step backwards to me.

I have been afraid to do a factory reset because I don't want to lose my contacts, etc., but at this point I may have to try it to see if it corrects my issues. Aside from that I may be playing with ways to drop back to Gingerbread, so if I had it to do over again, I would definitely have skipped the update when offered.

I'm loving my upgrade. The option to run the stock launcher is reason enough for me (it's better than Nova or Apex) and the new font makes it fells like a brand new phone. Haven't had any issues from the upgrade.

Yes I have been running ics for months now including various leaked upgrades and many custom roms. While all of the basic functions are the same as old Android versions there is enhanced functionality all over the place. Now that all GS2 variants are running ics along with other phones too this is the os app developers are building around.

Ewarren, another issue I ran into with the phone immediately upon the OTA update last week, it randomly selected emails from my corporate email account's Sent or Drafts email folders on the phone and resent them.

This happened immediately upon boot up after the update's automatic reboot so by the time I realized what was happening it was too late to do anything. Some of the messages were months old and recipients included customers as well as coworkers. Pretty embarrassing.

Proceed with caution and if you do update I would recommend emptying your Drafts email folders to be safe.

Ty thats a big tip I will be deleting everything that I can . I still haven't got the ota so I will have to wait for now.

I did the OTA last week and did a factory data reset 3 days ago. First thing I noticed was how fast 4.04 was. And every function is a lot snappier. I now use 4G most of the time with no drop off of battery life. No, aesthetically there is not a big difference, but I will take speed and a snappy response any day over "pretty."

Did the manual upgrade, and at first it seemed a mistake. But I rebooted both my and then my wife's. They then were much better.
If you have not done so,and are not happy with the functions yet,try a reboot.
With the phone off, Push both the volume up (top button on left of phone) and the on button at the same time. The phone will restart and go into the boot screen. Select the reboot option with the power button on the right of tghe phone. After starting, the screen showed a message that the Android update was successful. Maybe this helps complete the install.:smokingsomb:

I'm definitely liking it. There are some annoyances (such as the removal of the contacts tab in the dialer) but overall the phone is definitely faster and more responsive than it had been.

ETA: Oh, and my GPS performance has improved a lot.

Ever since I got my Transformer Prime, my E4GT has been playing a very distant second fiddle once I got home. My routine would be, charge the E4GT, play with the TP until it's time for bed, then grab the phone again for bedtime reading (it's also my alarm clock).

After ICS, I've been running 50-50 between the two devices. I'm not sure what it is about ICS - maybe it's the way I can now organize the home screen that makes it easier to use. Maybe just because it's new. Maybe it's the font. Whatever it is, ICS is making the phone a lot more attractive to use, which is odd since the TP is also running ICS.

Overall unimpressed, and have had quite a few problems ... battery and bluetooth, mostly solved with a reset. I do like the new option for the plain ICS launcher. but otherwise more pain than gain IMO.

I seriously regret I updated to ICS, my battery life is horrible, battery life is one of the most important things for me and this update completely made my battery life crap, other than that everything else is fine.
