Any recent sprint transplants out there?

Fed up with sprints slow 3g, seriously considering coming to verizon. Any thoughts out there from ex sprint users or current verizon users. I live in the boonies, so I heavily rely on my 3g vs wifi. What is the total bill for the 450 min a month unlimited text (or 1000 can't remember what they offer) and 10gb data, after all taxes insurance and fees are included? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I jumped ship from Sprint after tiring of the useless 3g in NC. I am so happy I made the switch, the 3g speeds on vzw are ridiculously faster and more consistent where I am. And we recently got LTE in large parts of the state, which is blowing my mind. It's so nice to actually be able to use data when away from wifi.

But as to the cost, you really have to decide the value for yourself. It only made sense to me because I jumped on the gf's family plan... even then I'm only paying slightly less than I was on Sprint. For an individual, you're looking at $39.99 (450 min) + $20 (unlimited text) + $50 (10 GB w/ double data promotion that ends JUNE 5th! -- otherwise 10GB is $80!)

So you're looking at $110 before taxes and fees (probably between $8 to $14, depending on your state sales taxes)...

Any chance you can pool together with anyone else to create a family plan?

Thanks for the heads up.the extra 20 a month wouldn't bother me since I would have a data connection I could actually use.however I was looking at holding out for the s3, so that really throws a wrench in things. $80 for 10gb is crazy. If I signed up now and got the nexus, could I just exchange it for an s3 when it comes out. Im pretty sure for sprint you have 14 days to return and void your c contract, but you can still exchange for a different phone within 30 days.

I don't have too much insight on the return flexibility since I'm so new to Verizon, but I think they are pretty strict on that 14-day return window...

You could always do what I did: I bought a like-new Rezound off of Craigslist (far and away best phone on VZW right now IMHO) and started a new line of service without using the phone discount or signing a contract, and they gave me the double-data deal once I activated the phone. So now I have that plan and will use the upgrade on a phone I really want later this summer/fall (I'm hoping for an HTC version of the Galaxy Note). Note that they will only give you the double-data if it's a 4G LTE phone.

(And BTW, if you go this route, to be safe, always meet the seller in a Verizon store to verify the ESN is clean, or buy from swappa.com).

Edit: Or if you don't want to go the used route and have a Costco membership, I'm pretty sure they give you 30 days to exchange phone models.

I made the switch. I love having LTE, but I have a question for the OP. I bought a Bionic from Ebay thinking that I would have an upgrade available around Christmastime, but MyVerizon says I can't get an upgrade until 2014. The sales guy said in 6 months. I called Verizon & they said the same thing- 2014. I specifically bought my own device to save the upgrade. Could you clarify this please?

Sounds like someone along the way activated a contract for you -- I'd go back to the Verizon store, and specifically the rep you dealt with, and ask him to fix your account... (They should of course have a record in their system that you never bought a new phone from them).
