Help Any way to Default to SMS in Hangouts?

If any of my Contacts have a Google account (e.g., all of them) and I try to message them in the Hangouts app, it will always default to using Hangouts instead of SMS, even though integration is enabled and every previous message in the thread is an SMS. I have to manually switch it to SMS every time I want to send a message, and it's incredibly annoying. Is there any way to always send SMS by default for either specific contacts or all contacts in Hangouts?
