Any way to disable the new password entry on startup feature?

A few weeks ago a firmware update got pushed which now requires me to enter my password every time I turn the device on, rather than letting me log on with my fingerprint like it used to. (After the initial password entry it works as expected until a reboot.) This is kind of annoying to me since I shut it off every night when I go to bed, both to save power and to avoid some inconsiderate person waking me up with a phone call in the middle of the night. I understand it might be more secure this way but that's not really a big concern for me, I mostly just put a lock on my phone to prevent casual snooping rather than because I believe it would stop a determined and knowledgeable attacker, and I have my doubts that a startup password would do that anyway.

So anyone know of any way I can change it back to the old behavior and remove the initial required password prompt? I did search through the settings but couldn't find anything that looked relevant.

Also kind of unrelated but I noticed that it seems to have changed how my owner information appears on the lock screen, it now doesn't appear at all until this initial password prompt is bypassed, and even afterward it will not show if there are any notifications visible on the lock screen. This is also bad for me since I put my name, address, and email on there for the slim chance that I lose my phone somewhere and somebody feels like doing a good deed, but I do not wish to make this information any harder to find than it has to be so I would appreciate if there was some way to make it go back to how it was before where I am pretty sure it would not obscure my owner info with notifications. Tempted to just disable lock screen notifications altogether but that seems like overkill.

I can help with the inconsiderate slobs, and you won't have to turn the phone off.

Install: * MacroDroid - Device Automation - Android Apps on Google Play

Now create this macro:

Trigger: Power Connected
Action: Volume Change

Select everything except for Alarm, click the boxes, slider to ZERO and save the macro.
you do this by clicking on the green 'check mark' and finally you have to name the macro.

with this one macro, you plug the phone into a charger and now they can't bother you.
In the daytime, you just disable that one macro. At night, you enable the macro.

Now, you need it to restore back to normal...

Trigger: Power Removed
Action: Volume Change

Select everything that needs to be fixed, set the sliders where they should be and save the macro.
and do as you did above to name it.

You can choose from a whole host of Triggers..... I just felt like "Power Connected" would be an easy one, and the phone is ready to go in the morning with a full charge. It don't hurt it to remain on charge after it is full, the Charge Regulator handles that.

I'd suggest doing what I do every night - plugging the phone in to charge up and switching it to airplane mode. That way I get no notifications of any kind overnight and I can simply use the fingerprint sensor to open it in the morning, switch off airplane mode and get all my overnight notifications.

IF, the phone is rooted, MacroDroid can turn Airplane Mode on/off.
same macro as above, just choose the action 'airplane mode'

Hi, can you reset your screen lock to none, "Settings", "Screen Lock ", set it to none, reboot the phone then go back in and set the fingerprint lock again. Phil
