Help Anyone else get a large update yesterday?

Did anyone get a large update yesterday. I notice it was quite large and took about 15 minutes. Is that a firmware? or just software updates? How do I find and check what was loaded on my phone? I'm hoping it fixes my screen that freezes a few times a day.
 
Ah... thanks rmadler! Wonder if that will fix my freezing screen issue? It did say:
This software update has been tested to optimize device performance, resolve known issues and apply the latest security patches.
 
Yes. Between that and the resulting optimizing of apps, my little puppy hot really hot. Is that normal?
 
I swear mine went into overdrive. It has never been more responsive - apps open quicker, no lag - very pleased since I was starting to bum out about the less-than-stellar performance.
 
My wife's phone did the update Friday night and killed it. It went into a death-reboot spiral of Hell. Wouldn't turn on, wouldn't turn off. No safe mode, none of that worked.

Luckily BestBuy had one in stock and swapped it for us. Did the update on mine and her new one on Monday and it was okay.

We've now each had our S7 Edges replaced . . . :rolleyes:
 
I have not received any update. Strange. I notice my people edge screen has a pending update but looking at the comments from users who have updated it has ruined the functions.

Only a couple did... most have been fine... ;)
I took mine back Thursday when the update didn't fix my ongoing freezing issues, got a new phone, did the latest firmware and updates on it and it works fine.
 
The huge update hit my s7 last week. Been nothing less than painful for me since with screen freezes and swipe not working. Subsequent reboots not helpful. Particularly troublesome in the morning. Going to take back to Costco today. Just switched from blackberry. Not fun for this Realtor. :(
 
Jack, I just got the phone Saturday and around 5PM yesterday, I too got a large download that was supposed to take 25 minutes and it took 15. Since this is a very new (and much different than what I am used to) it was an update of software that was already on the phone. I am cautious much like you (both my phone and one of my computers has been hacked; but with my background; I can ALWAYS spot it rather quickly!). I hope this eases your mind somewhat! Sorry to hear this Teresa. Just got this Galaxy S7 edge Saturday; after reading your comment, I hope that I do not encounter any problems. Good Luck in resolving the issue (I am rather "techy" so if you have any questions, please do NOT hesitate to ask!). I am interested to see how your issue is resolved; for any future issues/problems. True so I'm assuming I already got it lol. But I know some updates get pushed earlier than some, depending on your carrier.
