Anyone feeling brave enough to download new update?

I checked last night, and through my provider, there was no new update available, so I checked and I am on 4.4.2 already... I didn't update anything, would it do it automatically?

I installed it, seems to speed things up, although I don't use the finger scanner due to work email not supporting it.

It won't install automatically, at least it shouldn't. Go to Settings, about phone, software updates to install it.

I did that, and it said that my software was up to date... I assumed that it meant that Rogers (my provider) wasn't providing it OTA at this time, but thought I would check to see what version I have and it says 4.4.2??
I just checked and apparently the S5 shipped already running 4.4.2. Is there something newer?

I thought I had made a thread on this yesterday, guess the ether ate it up. Can't find it.

Found the thread.... http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s5/847140-camera-speed-increase-update-being-released.html

Anyway, it seems that "as of now" only those in the United Kingdom have an update available.

mother Verizon here in the USA won't let us have anything until, if then, our 2 year contract is expired. I hate their update policies. I have complained over and over again to Technical Support.

All I get is the Script Reader Response: "We have to evaluate the effect it will have on our Network".

Bull sheet

Kies 3.0 says my firmware is the latest.... that means the same as Release Day.

Kies 3.0 screen first one I ever saw 000-000-0000.jpg

I am in UK and have updated. Camera and gallery are noticeably faster opening and the phone just feels a bit slicker. Still hate the fingerprint recognition as it still takes 4 or 5 swipes to open the phone, on a good day.

Okay, so the latest firmware is still 4.4.2, but a different CODE? I am confused, I thought in the press stuff I read that 4.4.2 is the version, or is there a sub version of that?

Trying to upload a pic of my Kies report. Says that my current firmware is up to date. So, thanks to another member, I understand that 4.4.2 is the current android version, and firmware is different, if I got that right...
Showing ND1 as the current everything...
Due to my OLD apple way of thinking, I was thinking that firmware, was the same as OS, but understand now that firmware is related to the phone and android version is the OS...

Updated this morning in the US. All looks good, the camera is clearly faster and since I had no problem with the fingerprint scanner any increased accuracy is difficult to gauge.

That report don't help us, you did not state who your carrier is.
Please enter carrier in your profile.

Verizon has not released any updates as of right now...

I'm in the UK and updated the firmware last night. I've been at work all day, so haven't had much chance to check for any change in performance yet. I don't use the fingerprint scanner but I had previously been experiencing some occasional lagginess on the lock screen PIN code. Does anyone know whether this update fixes that? The few times I've used the phone today the lock screen seems to have been operating fine, but then again the lagginess was only occasional before...

So, no update for us here yet in Canada. Talking to a buddy who has been Android forever, he advised that the LOCKED down phones, may not even get it, the service providers never support the manufacturer stuff. He went Nexus and was able to do it all OTA... So, I am wondering, if I unlock my phone, and get a SIM card for a company out of the US that is allowing the download, would I be able to get it that way???
Just reading all the stuff here, and other sites about the battery and camera difference, are really bothering me, that my provider wouldn't allow something that will not compromise their service or the user at all.
