Hey Droiders,
I've been trying and trying to figure this out but I simply can't. I've tried an electronics forum but the people there seem to think that everyone is an incompetent engineer looking for others to do their work for them. Not me - I'm just an idiot when it comes to this stuff!
I made myself a fishing alarm that is a 9V connected to SPDT lever switch, connected to a piezo buzzer. When the fish is running the pole hits the lever switch over and over and my piezo beeps nicely! (Woohoo.) Except it doesn't work 100% as sometimes the switch is being hit too quickly. From all the research I've done I know I need to re-build my alarm using a 555timer in monostable mode. However I simply don't know how!
All I need is an on/off switch, the SPDT lever switch, a 555 timer in monostable which is set to I don't know maybe .5 of a second. (So if the lever is hit very quickly in rapid succession you still get a nice solid beep from the piezo.) .....then of course the piezo.
Can anyone help me out with this? I've spent 3 days now to no avail trying to make a design on a veroboard editor and I simply suck at it. Additionally I have no clue if I would need resistors and capicators and all that wonderful stuff. The working alarm I have now is just wires hooked up together so I have no electronics experience.
Any help would be so appreciated it's not even funny!
Thank you for reading and potentially helping,
Ed
