anyone know how the worry free trade-ins will work for the droid x release?

Battery life on my Incredible sucks. I figure I could either spend 60 bucks on a battery, or get the X, which apparently has much better battery life, for a 35 dollar restocking fee. X seems like a better deal

However, I am probably unwilling to trade if it means ordering another phone online. I really dont want to go through that process again. Is it possible to trade my Inc in at the store directly for an X, or because I ordered online am I going to have to mail the thing back and get my X online? I want to show up at the Verizon store the second the phone becomes available, be it midnight, 8 am or whatever. That backorder thing was horrible.

Also, I used a new every two discount. Would that transfer over seamlessly?

if your battery sucks you can trade your battery that came with the phone for an extended batttery and just pay the difference. Atleast when I worked as a tech we did that for customers. And if you paid online you are supposed to return it online, but I've seen stores that are willing to allow it. Just depends on the manager or the mood of the CSR you get really.

Thats what I was told as well. Just make sure to bring in the box and everything. I ordered mine online and I checked with the online CSR and the manager at my local store and was told by both that I would be able to turn in the Incredible and walk out with an X if they had stock. I plan on being there at or before opening to make sure thats not a problem!

If you ordered it online usually you would have to return it the same way unless you get a nice rep who will swap it out for you in store

Well if I start early enough maybe I can hit 3-4 Verizon stores before stock runs out, worst case. At least it seems like it's not impossible to do.

That is what I am doing. You can trade it in but it has to be a VW corp store not a reseller. I was told I could swap it out but when I went to the store itself they said their would be a 100.00 difference (mail in rebate) that I would have to deal with. This is even though a CSR rep told me different she said a straight swap no rebate. She did however note the phone call and the manager I spoke to at the store said if it's in the call log they will honor it. They also told me over the phone I wouldn't have to pay restock fee but store said otherwise :( When I told him it was noted in call he looked it up and said no restock fee for you:D.

So call first and get a CSR rep to tell you good things and make sure they note it. If you've been told something and can prove it they should honor it.

I did also make a point of the fact that every time I call or talk to someone I get a different story. He just looked at me with a blank stare:mad:.

Bottom line is yes you can but depending on who you talk to and you may have to pay restocking fee and have to pay the 100.00 that you will get back in a rebate.

It's best to get someone to tell you though and get their name and if possible get it noted in your account.

my buddy is a mgr at a store, while i don't know what the policy is for online to retail store return/exchange policy is, he informed me that returns within the 1st 30 days is frowned upon now more than ever. before it did not impact the commissions of the sales force but this policy has changed. what this means is that the sales people will aggressively work to keep you in the device at all costs. with the incredible, however, there appears to be an exception to policy. because of the ridiculous wait time and complaints, they are making exchanges and switch of orders to the droid x without issue. i hope this is helpful.

so i went to a couple stores today hoping to play with the phone, and they dont even have display models, but various people at both stores ensured me that i'll be able to trade my incredible in

i guess im gonna do it, i dunno

My 1-year upgrade date (on my two-year contract) was in November. My two-year upgrade date was next year. They bumped up my NE2 to today and I was able to order a Droid X :) Buh bye Eris!
