Anyone thinking about the moto z?

Just wondering what your thoughts are on the moto z. I can trade my turbo 2 in and just pickup the new payments, and since we have 4 lines on Verizon we have no plans on leaving them so....

Why not? Any thoughts?

Unless something's changed I'll not be considering it, won't get a Verizon branded phone anymore and the Z/Z Force will not be unlocked for Verizon. And, it seems pretty expensive. I guess I've gotten to the point where I'm happy with not bleeding-edge phones that will just get the job done for a lot less than $600 - 700.

Can someone help me with my Moto Z please? I like the phone but it's missing some pretty key things for me. First I can't find an led notification light on the front. Although when I plugged my Moto into the charger while it was off, a white light came on for a second right next to the ear piece. So maybe there's a hack or app to get that to blink for sms notifications? Also, where is my picture gallery? All I find is Google photos. I don't want to use that. Finally there's no mute button for the ringer in the menu drop down. Holding the volume rocker on the side only drops it to vibrate. I don't want it to vibrate either. Thanks in advance for any help.

It seems you are comparing an old version of Android to 6.0+.

I'm using a Droid Turbo 2 under 6.0.

The Notification light was removed from Motorola Droids a few versions back. There is a white light that the firmware uses with battery charging but it is not available to apps.

The sound limitation was introduced in an Android version update. I use Tasker to toggle my sound on and off so I can control all 7 volume controls my way. Tasker (or the compiled app) needs to be authorized for Notification Access to do it.

To do a restart ... hit the Power button ... when Power Off is displayed press and hold the Power button until the message goes away. Then release the Power button.

Thank you thank you!! I just might start to love this phone!

Be warned, i just bought a Moto Z 2 weeks ago, went on a two week vacation and came back and the rear camera lens cover was scratched, and right in front of the lens was like a shatter artifact on it, so when I took a pic you could faintly see a dot on each picture. luckily I bought the phone from Costco and have a 90-day return option standard. So I went to Costco got a new one today and i ordered a skin for the outside lens cover to protect it.

I didn't treat this phone any rougher than my previous five Motorolas, so I can be sure the lens cover is NOT Gorilla anything

I am a diehard Motorola geek and I just got rid of my Droid Turbo which I had said it was my best Motorola phone ever.

This phone kicks butt, it's fast, I love the fingerprint unlock, the screen is very good, battery life is about as good as my Droid Turbo, which was a little less than my Droid Maxx before it. So I don't miss the big battery ones at all....

So be careful, so far this is the only problem I've seen....

Mine is ordered and on it's way. A temporary solution until my Note 7 is replaced by whatever comes next.
I find the range confusing though - I come from an HTC 8 or a Note 7 not a Moto z or Z Force or Z Droid or Z Droid Force.... odd, or maybe it's just me.
I'll let you know how it goes....

That's all I'm seeing, too. Looks like they nixed the Gallery app in favor of Google Photos. (It might be better that they are forcing me to use it because I have months of automatically backed up pictures that I need to go through and clean up.)

I have always used QuickPic (available on the Play store). It's much faster than the old Gallery app.

As for muting the ringer, the drop down has a 'Do not disturb' toggle on the top left just under the WiFi toggle. You have the option of 'Total silence' and can even set a timer for it.

QuickPic WAS great. I used it all the time.

QuickPicwas purchased/converted by Cheetah Mobile. I recommend that it be uninstalled.

I use A+ Gallery Phots & Videos that has some very interesting dosplay options ... like a thumbnail for ever picture taken this yeat.

You forgot about the Moto Z Play and Moto Z Play Droid. (By the way, there is no unlocked Z Force. The only Z Force is the Droid Edition.)
