Anyone wrong with this logic (using an Unlocked phone with VM)?

Fact: you'll soon be able to use Sprint phones with VM.

So if I get an unlocked version of a phone usable on Sprint's, will it be usable with VM?
 
Well, technically the phone won't be "unlocked", since that applies to GSM/world phones. Sprint phones that have a clean ESN would be what you are referring to. When was this announced, though? I thought VM would be their brand phones only.
 
Sprint has mentioned allowing the use of Sprint phones on MVNOs, but nothing has been confirmed with regard to Virgin Mobile. VM's website still hasn't mentioned anything about this.
