App Brain

I've heard a lot about this, but I've not got a clue how it works.

Is it worth using?

So far I go to the website, look up a few apps and then search for them on the market. Is there an advantage to signing up to the website, downloading the appbrain app etc?

The advantage of signing up with app brain is the ability to sync your apps with the site. It will then see what apps your interested in and give you suggested apps in return. As well as when you decide to install one from the site, syncing it with the app on your phone will give you the list or app you wanted to install and make it much easier for you than searching or looking it up. Hope that answers your question!

Another nice thing about it is that it remembers what apps you have downloaded if you end up needing to get a new phone or do a factory reset.

Appbrain is a must have, IMHO

1. ability to sync with apps on the phone
2. easiest way to search for apps and read thru feedback(much better than searching on the phone)
3. easy way to generate a bbcode/html app list (very handy)
4. You can easily "bookmark" apps to keep an eye on without installing them
5. when someone asks "where did you get that app" you don't have to figure out how to create a link to the market ;) just copy and paste the link to appbrain

That was my plan until I mistakenly hit sync with phone right after a factory reset. Since I didn't have any apps on my phone, I lost all my apps on AppBrain.

You should first create a backup copy of the list on appbrain.com, than sync your phone, than copy the backup list back to "Apps on the phone", than re-sync. Works perfectly!

Love AppBrain. I went there and choose a bunch of things and made a few lists before I got my phone.

My problem is I never did see them in the AB app. They just do not show up for me. When I press the Sync with AB button I can see a list of anything I choose to install but not anything I added to the "Your app lists"

Still.. a GREAT service...

As far as I know, the only list that will sync with the app is the "Apps on the Phone" list. I use another list for stuff I'm thinking about getting, and then when I want to go ahead and get it, I move it to that main list.
