Apps App Company

Hi guys. I am a new app developer. could anyone please answer my question.

so basically I made an app and am now thinking of launching it. so first of all do I register for a company? and the name I had in mind for example was RedApple. but there is a store called redapple. so can I register still as like "redApple studios" or entertainment without being in danger of getting sued in future? (redapple is taken just as an example)

and what is the process of registration really? like do I just set the Google account up and thats it? the company is mine? or do I need to register with the local authorities as an private limited company or whatnot?

I am residing in the UK currently. any help would be appreciated. or any article that can guide... thanks a lot guys

A general rule of thumb is to avoid any confusion with Apple at all..... or any other 800 Gorilla....

Oh, and I'm not a legal person, so take this advice for what you think its worth... but its not legal advice at all.

In the UK you want to make sure theirs no confusion between your company, and some other... so it looks like your app is associated in some way with them. This is known as "Passing off" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passing_off

Looking to see if there are any similar trademarks is probably a good idea https://www.gov.uk/search-for-trademark

Which is why you'll find a lot of companies now just make up words, join them together, or use wacky spellings
Tindr, uber, tapatalk, waze, lastpass, zedge etc.....
