App folders shows on SD Card

I have all my apps installed on my phone. When I connect my phone to the PC with USB I see folders from each app on the SD Card. Why is that? If I take that SD card out, my apps won't work anymore? Thank you.

Really all your apps have their own folder on the SD card?

As I know most apps have their data in folders on the SD card.

And while installation some apps move by themselves a part of there program code on the SD card.
Or you did this manually
This apps are on SD card in folder '.android_secure'.

And yes, most apps with folders on the SD card need the SD card for to run properly

also lets say if you have fancy widget install and you download a skin for the clock and apply it, that skin downloads to the app folder and if you delete the folder your skin will be deleted also.
