App for collections -with import

Hi all,

I'm looking for an app that will let me store my lists -movies to watch/have watched, books to read/have read, music I have, music I want, etc. Right now they are in a spreadsheet format. I thought I could use Google Docs but editing a spreadsheet there is a lengthy process at best.

I tried Cards (-) which has a nice customizable data structure. I was able to create the fields as I wanted them to be, but without an import feature it would not be worth the effort. I also tried "My Collection Free" but the data structure isn't customizable, so I couldn't add fields like "read?" or "series".

I don't really need anything that scans, although that would be a bonus. Ideally if it could save or sync to a website that would perfect because I could make edits either on my phone or PC.

Any suggestions? Are there apps or even websites out there that would do this type of organization well?

I don't like to bump threads, but I'm surprised that no one has any suggestions. I hope I'm not the only one who carries around music and book lists...

You are not the only one; I am struggling with this issue as well. I need to migrate from Palm OS to Android (or something), and am stuck until a good mobile database becomes available. I have been using Smartlist for Palm, and have databases for books, films, CDs, chord changes for songs, groceries, auto maintenance, mileage tracking, business expenses, weight tracking, inventory, ...

I really thought "Cards (-)" was going to work... Hopefully the developer will add an import feature soon.

Does the "Cards (-)" app have a website? The name is impossible to Google because the special chars are ignored and the word "cards" has so many semantic meanings.

What's really sad is that Android has an SQLite DB under the hood--it should be trivial for a programmer who knows SQL & Java to write a front-end that lets us manage our own DBs. I'd be tempted to try it myself if my non-work time weren't already so overbooked.

Hmm - I didn't know that. You would think that Google would have put some type of Access-like app from the start then...

Same here - my free time is already spoken for (and I'm a sucky programmer) but I'm going to try and make time to fool around and see what I can come up with.
