Apps App for Inhouse Use only

Hi!

I have been contracted by a company to write an application which draws content from an inhouse server. The application will get videos and text from it. The application will only provide an interface to get these content.

Can I write the application and put it in PlayStore? If not, how can I install the application for use for the staff on their devices?

I would think that for ease of updating it could be distributed through play. I've seen some developers use G+ groups to limit who can download apps from play for beta testing. You could probably do something like this to limit downloads to employees. All of this assumes security surrounding the app accessing internal servers isn't dependent simply on having the app installed.
