Help App Installation Problems

Manufacturer: LG

Model: Optimus Exceed 2

Software version: 4.4.2

Hi, I've been experiencing problems with installing apps on my phone. When I go to download it, It does perfectly fine. After it attempts the process of installing, it tells me that there is insufficient room. Anyone able to help me with this?

Rooted using Towelroot

Since your rooted,Clear out some bloatware and/or Force stop apps you want to keep,But are not using at the moment.
And backup everything before removing bloatware.

Clearing pre-installed bloat may not help here, because that's in /system. This budget LG has only got 4GB total internal storage, which might only be 2-3GB usable for apps and everything else that isn't /system. What are you actually trying to install, if it's something like 1-2GB Gameloft or Glu games, it's going to have problems. Like downloading but failing to install because it hasn't got enough free workspace. Also some games and apps need to download additional data in order to work, which often uses internal storage as well.

Suggest you have a look at Storage Truth, and post back what it reports. :thumbsupdroid:

Frankly I think 16GB is the minimum internal storage you should be looking at for phones and tablets these days. Removable SD is on top, but only for media and documents usually.

I've tried downloading many different sizes of apps, some ranging from updates of incredibly small size(maybe a few megabytes) to whole apps measuring at nearly 100 megabytes. Typically I download from Google play but I tried downloading the apk for an app or two from the browser and still yet, I get the message that there is insufficient space. Yes, it only gives me about 1.8GB of usable storage, and I kinda straddle that line where I have used all of the memory. I did delete several large apps to see if that helped but I still run into the same issue. I agree with you mike on the minimum 16GB. I'd prefer that but unfortunately, this phone skipped out on that. It does rather well in everything else though.

I've had similar problems once as well but the issue I found was some apps didn't successfully uninstall.. No uninstall errors, Wasn't in app drawer either. BUT I went thru data/app, system/app, system/priv-app (with a Root Browser) and found the apk still there. Even after reboot. I uninstalled the apk (while in data/app folder, with Root browser to remove secondary app files &/or libs) AND Str8 up deleted the app from that folder, then rebooted. Fixed the issue. Oh, and sometimes downloads, pics/vids hog up room in the worst spots. Move from Camera folder to SDcard. Hope that helps

I wasn't able to find any leftovers from uninstalled apps, and I typically move photos and videos to sd card already. Mikedt, I forgot to check out storage truth but I attempted to get it today and (of course) I couldn't install it.
