Help App leftovers don't allow reinstalling the app.

I have been using my G6 with a microSD card. I have moved many of my "big" apps to the SD to free up some space. A few days ago, the sim card tray broke a bit next to the SD, and made the phone unable to read the card (I can still use my SIM). One of the installed apps in my SD were Messenger, Facebook and some games.

Trying to install the app in the internal storage fails with error code (503) I believe, but of course it only happens with the apps that were in my SD card. I tried some "phone cleaning" apps, like Android Maid, cleaned the "corpses" that it found as I suspect that some registry data might be in play, but it didn't solve anything. Any ideas or advice? Thanks!

Were you able to uninstall the previous copy?

It's not registry data, but moving an app to SD only moves part of the app (from memory the apk and library components, but not the ART/Dalvik element and a few other bits, and of course the internal app data directories). So the SD card being unavailable means that the app is broken/unusable, but still partially installed, which I suspect is your problem.

It's many years since I moved an app to SD, so I can't recall whether it's possible to uninstall it in the state those are now in. Obviously a factory reset would do it, but that is a hassle to restore all of you data afterwards (and making sure you have backups beforehands).

If you can get a replacement SIM tray that would presumably solve the problem.
