app manages its owwn default .. any work around?

new version .. updated few weeks ago .. fails to let the user select video player for playback

in my case it would just play in MX Player (it can not caputre screenshots)

i tried to clear defaults for it.. but there weren't any ..

so I uninstalled MX player ..

so then when trying to play app took me to Play store .. to get Soul Movie player..

because the download had CC - subtitles..

i deleted the subtitles and tried to play

again to no avail

now it plays with internal player..

but i want to use other players .. for features..

old version let me select

please advise

please help

am i missing some settings/options

current work around is that i open the download folder with ES File Explorer and play from there ..
