App or How To for scheduling on/off etc.

My blackberry allowed me to program when my phone would shut off in the evening and turn on in the morning. Is there anything similar?

My wife has a habit of forgetting to lower the volume on her phone at night so we hear her reminders and such all night long (or at least until I get up and silence her phone)

As far as fully turning the phone on/off, I'm not sure that's a possibility with Android.

However, look up Timeriffic. It lets you set profiles for certain days/times and changes your settings to whatever you tell it to.

For example, I had the same problem with reminders in the middle of the night so I have my phone set notifications to 0% just after my usual bedtime and then back to normal just before I usually get up.

You can set up multiple profiles with multiple actions so if you go on vacation and want to turn off work settings, but want to leave everything else intact you can do that very easily. I love this app, probably my #1 favorite.

I would like to point out that the reason that BB users can schedule a "turn off" and "turn on" timer is because Blackberries don't actually "turn off" unless you pull the battery. Instead, they enter a hard-sleep mode which acts like "off" on most phones. That's why battery pulls are suggested every once in a while for Blackberries.

Tasker. Still in beta but stable and very good (never once had it crash). Takes a little work to figure out but highly customizable based on time, location and several other parameters. Definitely check it out. Currently free while in beta. The developer is meticulous and doesn't want to release it with bugs so it's been in beta for awhile and he's adding features all the time. When it is fully released, I understand that he's thinking somewhere in the $3.99 range. It does most of what Locale does (from what I understand, a lot more besides) and is currently free. :)

Update: Looks like it's in the process of moving out of beta and towards stable with cost. Though there is a 14 day trial period. Not sure if it's required yet but definitely take a look.

Thanks. I'll take a look at these recommendations and decide which one get the job done best. Appreciate pointing me in the right direction.
