App problem

I downloaded a text app and it works fine, but the problem I am having is when I get a text I get to sounds.
I get my notification sound from the App I downloaded and one from the text app that came with the phone.

Can I turn off the notification on the text app that came with the phone.

yup. handcent was the first app i downloaded on the phone and i immediately turned off the notifications in the default texting app. golden!
