App Request: Movie Listing

So based on your GPS location, it displays nearby movie theaters and then lists movie times for that theater.

Or displays movies and then you can see times at nearby movies.

Two ways of displaying. First is good if you like a particular theater. Second is good if you want to see a certain movie and just want to see the times.

I go to Fandango to kinda do this but I have to put in my zip code and if I'm out of town I have to put in the city and state. This would be an easy and faster loading way of doing this.

I believe there was one released yesterday, it was a OK program but nothing special. Not sure if it still up or not.

There is a program called, cleverly enough, Movies.

It will use GPS to determine your location, then provide you with a list of all movies playing, along with a photo.

It also provides IMDb (Internet Movie Database) rating, which I think is great. The IMDb has hunderds, sometimes thousands of people who review and rate movies, and has a scale which, I believe is one to 8 or 1 to 10, so there is a WIDE spread.

If a movie rates above, usually, a 7 or higher, you can figure it's a good-great movie.

Anyways, back to the app... finds movies FAST, easy to find theater show times (just click on the movie you're interested in)

On the downside, right now, there is NO WAY to check theaters NOT near where you currently are. If, for example, you're on your way home, but you're an hour away, and would like to see a movie when you get home, you're SOL... no way, with this app. It'll use GPS, and show you movie times in the area you're currently in.

Developer has said he plans to add new features, and even as it currently is, it's pretty slick in how fast and easily it finds movies and showtimes near your location.

I agree, Movies works really well.

Would love to see a "buy tickets now" feature and have you flip to Moviephone or Fandango and open your account and buy the tickets on the G1.

Err...maybe I will write the developer on this. Looking up movies where you are going to be in is cool but it gives a wide range of theaters for me and very nice gui etc.

There is an app that could buy movie ticket on your phone.

Go to Market and search for "midnite", will see an app called "midNite Movie"

This app works just like Movies from Flixster but also allows user to buy ticket and use the phone as an electronic ticket. Pretty cool!

I was thinking of something a few days ago, before I found this site, that would be something that could go well with this.

I want an app that gives me a list of upcoming movies in the future. I would then add movies I think I want to see to my WANTED list. From the upcoming list you could allow links to IMDB, trailers for the movie, etc. You could give access to those things from your WANTED list as well as movie times and locations (Based on GPS or Wifi) when a movie becomes available. It could be set to alert you when certain movies are close to release and based on location, it might be able to let you know when a movie in your list is being released in limited areas (IE Paranormal Activities before it opened wide)
