I'm an old iPhone user and used to having over 100 apps on my phone.

To locate an app , I was very used to swiping the IOS home screen to the right, and reveal the "Search iPhone" function and typing in the name of the App, and a direct icon link to the app is presented on a short list of possible search results.

Is there a similar "Search Android Phone" function i'm missing?

and no I do NOT want to use Voice search.

OK,

Maybe I just press the Menu Key, to launch what I thought was Google Voice,

but click the box at the top and start typing the name of the app I'm trying to locate.

I was thrown off before , because all I saw when I press the Menu Key (from the home page ) was a white screen with a microphone on top right , and a giant display of my local Weather,
but totally missed the fact the box at the very top that says :

"Search, or say "Google"

is actually a Text Entry box if you click on it.
